7 Ways a Plastic Bed Liner is Better

A spray on bed liner is often considered the top bed lining. Actually, in several ways a spray on bedliner bed liner is a better choice. See, it all depends on how you use your pickup and the kinds of loads you haul. For many truck owners a plastic liner is best. Here’s why…

  1. Cheaper.

How about half the cost. That’s about what you’ll pay for a plastic liner compared to a spray on liner. You save big. But there’s more…

  1. It Isn’t Permanent.

That’s supposed to be an advantage of a spray on coating. It’s permanent. What if you change your mind? What if you want something different? If you damage a spray on lining, it stays damaged until you get it fixed. There are advantages to being able to remove a liner.

  1. It’s Tougher.

Take concrete blocks. Haul a pile of concrete blocks in your spray on liner and see what happens. Because a spray on coating is very thick, it takes a while to scrape through to the bed below the liner. That doesn’t mean it’s not getting beat up. On the other hand, a plastic liner is all but indestructible. It takes most any kind of abuse and still looks good.

  1. Dents No More.

Since a plastic liner is so thick, it absorbs impact. It takes the hit rather than letting the bed surface take the lick. No more dents.

  1. Gouges No More Either.

You can easily scrape and gouge a sprayed on coating. It can be repaired, but it’s still damaged. A plastic liner almost won’t cut. It’s thick and tough to stand any kind of rough cargo.

  1. No Sanding Required.

Did you know that the first step to installing a spray on coating is sanding off much of the original paint on the truck bed. Even on a brand new truck? A plastic liner just goes right over the original paint, so there’s no reason to sand on the truck bed paint. Surely sounds better to me.

  1. They Aren’t All Alike.

The typical plastic bed liners are made in one piece to custom fit each truck. There is a better alternative. You can get a custom fit liner that’s in multiple pieces. Get an even better fit with that design. It’s also better since it’s less likely for water to get trapped under the liner. That’s a potential problem.
